If you were looking for The Magnificent Seven, then sonny, you got on the wrong stagecoach.
From what we know so far, the plot of The Hateful Eight, Quentin Tarantino's eighth film, is like an even more murdery Clue, except Samuel L. Jackson replaces Tim Curry and the whole bloody mess is set in frozen-over, post-Civil War Wyoming.
Jackson's character, Major Marquis Warren, hitches a stagecoach ride with fellow bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth (Kurt Russell) and fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh). They take shelter in a remote cabin alongside a gallery of rogues, notably Sheriff Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins, joyously returning to his Justified form). And then, from what we can tell, everyone starts shooting everyone else.
If anything—and look, it's Tarantino we're talking about here—THIS is the movie that should have been called There Will Be Blood, because there will probably be a lot of it. And bullets. Blood and bullets.
So even though The Hateful Eight is already a solid movie name, consider yourself on notice, Paul Thomas Anderson.
We're looking forward to seeing Samuel L. and co. in theaters on Jan. 8.
