Fermented foods like yogurt and sauerkraut, which are breeding grounds for healthy germs, are known to soothe the stomach. But a survey of 700 college students found that those who regularly ate those foods also had much less social anxiety than those who didn’t.
Why? A Texas Tech study recently found that some gut germs act as tiny psychiatric drug-making machines, pumping out beneficial neurochemicals.
